Dear Hillary: This Show is Over. Say Goodbye

Posted on 05/07/2008. Filed under: barack obama, Hillary Clinton, Indiana, North Carlolina, presidential elections 2008 |

On Tuesday May 6, Barack Obama won the North Carolina Primary 56% to 42%. The Indiana Primary was so close that no one would call it till almost 1 am eastern time and even after all that time, Hillary went from a 15 point lead in the polls to narrowly squeak by 3& over Obama. She only has a lead of 22,412 votes in Indiana. They are still counting absentee ballots in Indiana and that lead will narrow if not disappear.

Hillary cannot win the nomination unless the remaining superdelegates ignore the popular vote completely. and with her negative campaigning she can only divide the party further and lengthen the time needed for the party to heal so as to take on McCain in November. Her poor showing in these two primaries as well as her campaigns lack of funding make her an non viable candidate. She has gone from being the former First Lady to a boiler maker guzzling middle class something in trying to change her image and court the white blue collar voters. She is throwing everything including the kitchen sink at Barack Obama and he still comes out ahead.

Hillary has even become so desperate to win that she is touting a “gas tax holiday” for the summer that would cost the nation untold amounts in revenues for salaries and road repair while only saving Americans 30 dollars for the summer if that much.

Madonna said it best in her song “Take a Bow”

Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Lights are low, the curtains down
There’s no one here
[There’s no one here, there’s no one in the crowd]
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there’s no one around
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
[One lonely star you don’t know who you are]

I’ve always been in love with you [always with you]
I guess you’ve always known it’s true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Well, Hillary, America is not in love with you any more and you definitely no longer love the Democratic Party. You are willing to do or say anything to win but at what cost to the people? This is not about the “Clintons” or “Hillary” and never should have been.

Paul Begala, a former Bill Clinton adviser and a Hillary supporter, speaking on CNN said that the Obama Coalition are Eggheads and African Americans and that that was the Dukakis coalition and gave us the years of Bush Senior. He then went on to call it “my party” and Donna Brazile put him in his place.

It was announced last night that Hillary had canceled all public appearances and would be huddling with her staff and superdelegates trying to force them to declare. I hope the superdelegates see the hand writing on the wall even if Hillary doesn’t and come out and support Barack Obama for President. Hillary now has a chance to leave this race on a high note or continue her downward spiral into negativity. Which will it be?

UPDATE:CNN Former Sen. George McGovern urged Hillary Clinton Wednesday to drop out
of the Democratic Presidential race.

McGovern, who had endorsed Clinton, told CNN he was switching his support to endorse Barack Obama.

UPDATE: Hillary’s lead in Indiana down to 14,413 votes with one county still at 99% of the votes counter
