It Does Get Better

Posted on 07/05/2011. Filed under: Gay Pride, gay rights, glbt, glbt rights | Tags: , |

Being gay or lesbian is a wonderful thing. But for those just coming out or to terms with themselves it can be frightening. They have to deal with their own fears, uncertainty and confused emotions.

I know how difficult this can be. I cam out at the age of 15 in a small town in North Carolina. I dealt with hate and even violence but things got better. I found people who loved me for me and excepted me know matter who I loved. As I have gotten older, it has become even more wonderful!!!! It Does Get Better!!!!

If you are a youth trying to deal with these issues, there is help out there. Find a church that is totally divers and totally inclusive. Find a GLBT Youth group, Lambda Legal Youth OUTreach or a PFLAG group who can welcome you with open arms and get you to groups who can help.  here is a site that has many links to Gay Youth Organizations. Please find thehelp you need. Know you are loved and it will get better!!!!

REPUBLICAN POSTER BOY ACKNOWLEDGES PATRONIZING THE “D.C. MADAM” – U.S. SENATOR REVEALS, “SERIOUS SIN!”

  Louisiana’s Junior Senator, Republican David Vittner was a model of propriety.

He’s a married man with four children. A lector at St. Francis Xavier’s Church. A “mainstream” conservative who was “outed” yesterday as a customer of the infamous Deborah Jeane Palfrey – the “DC Madam”.

One gossip blog, tips@bigheaddc.com, cites Mrs Vittner as being critical of Hillary Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal in a news story of the time. She’s quoted as saying, “I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbit than Hillary – I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony”.

Politics makes strange bedfellows?

Vittner was one of the anchors of the strategy to take back Congress in 2010. Whoops.

But maybe it will be all right. Vittner claimed to have been pardoned by God in the confessional and by his wife in counseling.

Craig insists ‘I am not gay,’ police say he sought information for lawyer

Sen. Larry Craig insisted today “I am not gay” and lashed out at the Idaho Statesman for a “witchhunt” that led him to plead guilty to a disorderly conduct charge – a plea he hoped would make the charge go away.

Meanwhile, newly released police records of the bathroom incident that led to Craig’s arrest show that Craig revisited the Minneapolis airport 11 days later to complain about how he had been treated by police. He said he wanted information so his lawyer could speak to someone, according to a police report.

Craig said Monday that he did not seek legal counsel before deciding to plead guilty to disorderly conduct. Today, Craig said he has hired a lawyer to advise him what to do next.

Craig was arrested June 11 by an undercover police officer who said Craig made a sexual advance toward him in an airport men’s room near Minneapolis.

He held a nationally televised news conference today in Boise, but did not talk specifically about what happened in the men’s room and did not take questions.

“I overreacted and made a poor decision,” Craig said.

  Republican Senator Resigns Why Hasn’t The President of The Texas Stonewall Caucus Done the Same

Sen. Larry Craig announced he would resign his seat in the Senate after pleading guilty in what he now calls a police sting when he was arrested for soliciting sex in a public bathroom at an airport. He is resigning under pressure to keep from embarrassing his party, other elected officials or candidates and we head into the elections cycle. I have to ask why Shannon Bailey president of the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus has not done the same.

Shannon was arrested after being seen by two vice cops for giving a blow job in a public park. He is in no position(excuse the pun) to be a spokesperson for the GLBT Democratic Community and has basically abdicated his position as he hides out and awaits his day in court. I agree with many others that the laws covering public lewdness are not enforced equally for the GLBT and Straight world but if you think with the head in your pants instead of the head on your shoulders, I do not have a lot of sympathy. A person in a position of public authority has to live by a higher standard and must think of the image they project and how it affects not only themselves but the Community at large.

Here is Shannon’s latest email to the executive committee of the Stonewall Caucus:

I will call any meetings from now on. There WILL NOT be any meetings of any kind until after October 5, 2007, my daughters wedding. Not one of you communicated to me or inquired about my schedule for September 30 (which happens to be rehearsal day). I AM THE PRESIDENT. You had your meeting even though it was not appropriately called and you could not muster the votes to remove me, that was your one chance. All you are currently doing is creating bad press. I will appoint the bylaws review committee shortly, I am getting commitments from the individuals. At that time I will call a meeting of the Executive Committee. I have a location for the next meeting confirmed. If any of you have question, contact me.

In solidarity (I hope),

Shannon

Sounds a lot like George Bush’s claims to power to me.

Right Wing Bible Thumper Caught for Indecent Exposure

Posted on 08/02/2007. Filed under: bigots, david vitter, glbt, lgbt, mark foley, religious right, republican, republican scandals, right wing |

You have to love stories like this. The Right Wing and Religious Right are so full of Bigots and Hypocrites that it is unbelievable. They want to spend their time and effort spewing hatred while in their private lives being more depraved than any Gay or Lesbian I have ever know in the 33 years I have been out. Nothing like a good old Bible Thumping, Hell Fire and Brimstone Minister in a skirt peeing in front of children and then offering to blow the cop when they arrest him. I assume they will send him to rehab and he will come out saying “I’ve confessed and been forgiven and I no longer feel the need to wear a skirt.” The Right Wing will take his sorry ass back under their wing but hide him in a corner.

He can join Mark Foley- the Republican Pedophile, Ted Haggard- the Bible Thumping Crack Head who only enjoys sex when he pays for it, Rep. David Vitter and his many hookers, or any of the other GOP Perverts!!!

‘Family
Values’ Pastor Charged With Indecent Exposure
by The Associated Press

(Johnson City, Tennessee) The minister of a Baptist
church has been charged with indecent exposure and driving under the influence,
and police officers say he propositioned them.

Tommy Tester, 58, of Bristol, Va., was wearing a skirt
when he was arrested last week after allegedly urinating in front of children at
a car wash, police said.

Police also said Tester offered to perform oral sex on
officers who were sent to the scene.

Authorities identified Tester as the minister of Gospel
Baptist Church in Bristol and an employee of Christian radio station WZAP-AM in
Bristol.

MTV Logo and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation are about to make history.

On August 9, we’ll be co-hosting the first ever televised presidential forum dedicated solely to questions about GLBT issues – and I’m thrilled to announce that I will join singer Melissa Etheridge and esteemed journalist Jonathan Capehart as panelists!

I’ll be there representing you so I need your help.

I received this email and thought it needed to be shared.

Click here to tell me what you want to hear by submitting your questions for the candidates!

This forum is really exciting for me because you and I will have the opportunity to ask the leading Democratic presidential candidates their stance on issues most important to our community.

Want to know what Senator Clinton really thinks of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?” Want to hear Senator Obama’s thoughts on Hate Crimes legislation, or what Senator Edwards would do to address GLBT workplace discrimination? This is your chance.

We’ll have their undivided attention for two hours, so submit your questions today!

This historic two-hour forum, moderated by Margaret Carlson, will be broadcast live on the Logo network and online at the Logo website on Thursday, Aug. 9, starting at 9 p.m. EST.

Confirmed candidates now include:

* Hillary Clinton,
* Christopher Dodd,
* John Edwards,
* Mike Gravel,
* Dennis Kucinich,
* Barack Obama, and
* Bill Richardson.

This is our best chance to hear where these candidates stand on GLBT issues. The deadline for submissions is August 1st, so speak up today!

This forum is a testament to the hard work we’ve done together to keep GLBT issues at the forefront of American politics. Be sure to tune in on August 9. I look forward to your questions and to hearing the candidates’ responses.

To find out how to get Logo, click here or watch the forum live on Logo’s website.

Thank you for all you do.

Warmly,
Joe Solmonese

President

This is a historic event in GLBT History. I do not think we will get any surprise answers but I am thrilled that for once they are not just asking for the GLBT Community’s money and vote and showing no respect at all.

The Republican Party- The Party of HATE!!!

Posted on 07/26/2007. Filed under: bigotry, glbt, hate, intolerance, lgbt, ohio, Republicans, tom brinkman |

The Bigots at the Republican Party will do anything to advance trheir hatred and intolerance. Rep. Tom Brinkman knowingly let employees falsify signatures on a petition attempting to repeal a Cincinnati ordinance protecting Gays from discrimination. The judge who called Bigot Brinkman on his actions is himself a Republican but one who upholds the law unlike the Bigot Brinkman. Ohio needs to make sure this jerk is not reelected to office!!!

Judge
Blasts GOP Lawmaker In Anti-Gay Petition Fraud Case

by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff

(Cincinnati, Ohio) A Republican lawmaker
behind an unsuccessful bid to repeal Cincinnati’s ordinance protecting gays from
discrimination has been accused of knowing names to get the issue onto the
ballot in 2006 were fraudulent.

Two women working on behalf of
Equal Rights Not Special Rights have pleaded guilty to
election falsification.

State Rep. Tom Brinkman, who
was the head of the organization was never charged, but at a
hearing the judge in the case suggested he was involved and
knew that Lois Mingo, 48, and Precilla Ward, 32, had falsified
the petitions by crossing out names and addresses of signers
and replacing them with addresses of registered voters in
order to make them appear valid.

“It’s terrible,” said
Judge Robert Ruehlman from the bench. “It takes away the
right to democracy. It takes away the right for people to
decide issues when you cheat like that.”

How Much Does It Cost For an Altar Boy

Posted on 07/14/2007. Filed under: catholic church, glbt, homophobia, lgbt, pedophile |

The L.A. Archdiocese has decided that the payoff for an alter boy averages 1.2 to 1.3 million dollars. This is what they are paying if a their suit is settles out of court. The Catholic Church who spews hatred against gays would rather protect pedophile priest while still damning gays.

L.A. Archdiocese to settle suits for $600 million

Settlement represents Church’s largest payout in sexual abuse scandal

LOS ANGELES – The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will settle its clergy abuse cases for at least $600 million, by far the largest payout in the church’s sexual abuse scandal, The Associated Press learned Saturday.

Attorneys for the archdiocese and the plaintiffs are expected to announce the deal Monday, the day the first of more than 500 clergy abuse cases was scheduled for jury selection, according to two people with knowledge of the agreement. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the settlement had not been made public.

The archdiocese and its insurers will pay between $600 million and $650 million to about 500 plaintiffs—an average of $1.2 million to $1.3 million per person. The settlement also calls for the release of confidential priest personnel files after review by a judge assigned to oversee the litigation, the sources said.
