Things Are Heating Up In Texas

Posted on 06/05/2008. Filed under: 2008 elections, larry joe doherty, texas politics, TX-CD10 |

We will be taking Texas back in 2008. One of the people who is currently leading the charge is Larry Joe Doherty. Larry Joe won the March primary and has been busy every since meeting people and getting the message out. Well, it seems people are starting to take notice.

A new IRV Poll shows Larry Joe with in 5.4% of McCall.

For the 2008 race, in polling on June 2, 528 likely voters gave McCaul a 5.4% lead over Democratic challenger Larry Joe Doherty. McCaul received 51.7% to Doherty’s 46.3%, with 2.0% undecided.

TX-10 is described as a ‘barbell district’ due to having a large chunk of the district in Travis County (Austin), a large chunk in Harris County (Houston) and a thin strip of highway frontage in between. In 2006, Harris went 71-26 for McCaul and Travis went 56-38 for Ankrum. In this poll, McCaul takes Harris 63-33 and Doherty takes Travis by the same 63-33. Travis is the slightly larger end of the TX-10 barbell, but the ‘bar’ in between went 70-30 for McCaul, resulting in a McCaul lead.

Here is a race Texans can sink their teeth into and help get a Democrat in the US Congress. We need better representation in Washington. Larry Joe can win if we help!!!

Will Republicans Return Rev. Hagee Hate Money?

Posted on 05/29/2008. Filed under: 2008 elections, john cornyn, John McCain, rick noriega, TX-US Senate |

Photobucket

John McCain was quick(well sort of) to throw Rev Hagee under the Straight Talk Express but I wonder just how fast he plans to send back the money he took from him?

Photobucket

The Straight Talk Express has had to move to fund raisers featuring old Shrub from fancy locations like the Phoenix Convention Center and a Hotel Ballroom in Utah to private homes since they couldn’t sell enough tickets to guarantee more attendees than protesters, John might be a little strapped for cash. We all know the fund raising gimmick in Florida last year didn’t work.

I wonder how many of these other fine upstanding Republicans will return Rev. Hate- oops Hagee’s hate money to him. You know John Cornyn is always talking about how much he cares about Veterans but always seems to come out smelling like a cow pie when the truth is known. Now of course old Box Turtle has been mighty quiet about Rev. Hagee.

Photobucket

It seems like Texans have a clear choice. They can either vote for two losers who will take hate money from Hagee or we can elect Democrats who actually care about Texas and Texans. I know I’m voting for Rick Noriega for TX-US Senate as well as whoever gets the Democratic Nomination for President.

HD-32 Todd Hunter(R) Just Your Average Lying Chicken Hawk

Posted on 05/27/2008. Filed under: 2008 elections, Rep. Juan Garcia, Todd Hunter, TX-HD 32 |

I am always baffled(not really) but the sheer audacity of the Republicans running for office. They seem to think that insulting Texans intelligence is the way to get elected but I think that ship has sailed. Texans have seen what a Republican controlled Ledge actually does for Texans. NOTHING!!!

Todd Hunter is yet another one who thinks that Texans are too stupid to research his statements and recognize his bull shit.

HD-32: Todd Hunter fails Memorial Day

During their first head-to-head debate, the two were asked by an audience member whether they would make their tax records available to the media. Garcia immediately committed to unconditionally releasing the tax records. In a bizarre answer captured on video, an indignant Hunter snarled “you won’t get my wife’s” (reminiscent of Garcia’s last opponent and Hunter’s supporter Gene Seaman and his hiding of a luxury Town Lake condo kept in his wife’s name but paid for with campaign contributions), and then made the release of his own tax returns conditional on Rep. Garcia releasing his military records.

I would love old Chicken Hawk Todd to explain what Rep. Juan Garcia’s military records have to do with Todd’s tax records. Listen closely at the end as Rep Garcia ask Todd if he has any military records to release. The answer of course: “You know I don’t”.

Let’s thank the Red Sate over at Texas Kaos for catching this one.

So Toddy, if you never served in the military why would you want Rep. Garcia’s records? I guess you want to live vicariously.

Now while we are on Toddy’s special moments, lets talk about this big whopper.

Over at the Caller-Times, a small but important line states:

“Hunter became a lobbyist after leaving the Legislature, with clients including the city of Corpus Christi — which he represented for free, his campaign said — and the insurance industry. He said he has no fear of lobbyists exerting undue influence on him.”

But you know when you check on line old Toddy was paid $250,00 by city of Corpus from 1998 through 2000. The proof is in the state’s own ethics filings. Click on any of the links (1998, 1999, 2000) and scroll down to “Hunter, Todd”. You know I never knew working for free paid so damn much.

I want to thank Matt Glazer over at Burnt Orange Report for catching this whopper.

The good people of of Texas House District 32 are lucky to have a Representative like Juan Garcia in the Ledge. Rep. Garcia is honest and works to take care of all Texans and doesn’t resort to these type of childish games or lies to get elected.

In Texas, we have a change to change all this in November. We can and must elect Lt. Col. Rick Noriega as the next Senator from Texas. Read Rick’s great op-ed piece at the Houston Chronicle and after reading go to Act Blue and make a donation to help Lt. Col. Rick Noriega become the next senator from Texas. Our Troops are counting on you.

Hillary Has Lost Her Mind

Posted on 05/23/2008. Filed under: 2008 elections, barack obama, Hillary Clinton |

Hillary Clinton invokes the assignation of Robert Kennedy as her reason to stay in the race. What type of sick mind wants to contemplate the assignation of the Party nominee as her way on to the ballot.

Her continued whining about counting Michigan and Florida even though she agreed with the DNC ruling to deny all delegates from either state is one of the most disgusting acts of self denials I have ever seen. She is no Longer a Democrat but a megalomaniac like Bush who thinks she is entitled to the nomination. I hope the superdelegates see this and realize it is time to put a stop to this insanity.
