Governor Perry seems to have forgotten what job he holds in Texas. He has decided that instead of being governor for the entire state, he will be the governor of the Ultra Right Wing. Perry is pushing for an amendment to the constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman while also banning civil unions, domestic partnerships and possibly outlawing common law marriage in Texas. It seems using hate and fear to divide the state are more important than working on problems such as education and tax reform.
He held a meeting with 500 pastors in Austin and plans meeting in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio where he will speak with other pastors in closed meeting. Closed means no press and no accountability to the public. Separation of church and state have officially died and you can believe that pastors from moderate or more open minded churches will not be invited. The plan is to register 5000 new extreme right wing voters in time for the November 8th election to put legalized discrimination into the Texas Bill of Rights.
Voting against Proposition 2 will show the legislature and governor what we think of them wasting Texans time and money and their total disregard for what is good for Texas. Get involved, get busy, get mad as hell and let these jerks who think they are on a mission know that we do not approve of them or their blind allegiance to a party line.
